Ep. 242 | Beyond Rules: A Fresh Vision for Sexual Wholeness

Married Couple holding hands, beyond rules to sexual wholeness

By Francie Winslow

There was a time when I worked really hard to do everything “right.” My heart was to follow Jesus and make Him known, but I was consumed by people pleasing and making sure I followed “the rules.”

I didn’t dress too loud, didn’t ask too many questions, didn’t acknowledge my body (or my nervous system). I thought it holiness… but deep down, I was afraid.

Afraid of being too much.
Afraid of being a stumbling block.
Afraid of getting it wrong.

But here’s what I’ve come to realize:

“I wasn’t free. I was just hiding… behind fear, behind silence, behind what I thought God wanted from me.”

In this week’s episode, I’m sharing the journey I’ve been on: moving beyond fear-based rules into a life shaped by love, presence, and actual freedom.

Not freedom that throws off purity, modesty, or submission… those are still beautiful when they’re rightly rooted. But freedom that lets go of the distortion. The shame. The control.

We don’t need more prescriptions. We need presence.

Not “how far is too far?” but “how do I live connected to Jesus in my body?”

Not “can I wear this?” but “how do I walk in confidence and kindness?”

This shift has created a more intimate connection with God, who graciously designed me in His image.

Three Things That Helped Me Heal

I share this in the episode, but it’s worth repeating here. These are the pillars that are reshaping how I think about sexual wholeness:

Education Learning about my body, cycle, anatomy, and how God actually designed pleasure to work.

“Ignorance is not purity. It’s just disempowerment.”

Celebration Choosing to say thank you for what God made good—instead of shrinking back in shame.

Integration Bringing my sexuality into my walk with Jesus, not leaving it outside the door of my spiritual life.

I want this for you too. Not just more head knowledge, but heart healing. A vision of womanhood that’s filled with peace, not pressure.
