Christmas Message - God with Us in Our Bodies

By Francie Winslow

Every December, we celebrate the wonder of Emmanuel; God with us.

But sometimes, “with us” can feel vague or distant. We nod at the manger scene and sing the carols, but we forget what’s really at the heart of it all: He came in a body.

A real, flesh-and-blood, breathing, vulnerable body.

Why does that matter? Because it means your body, yes, your weary, tender, hormonal, stretched-thin, beautiful body, matters to God.

Jesus came to show us how to live in a body

He didn’t just come to save our souls for heaven one day. He came to redeem our humanity here and now. To show us what it means to walk with the Father in the middle of ordinary life: in the kitchen, in conversations, in physical pain, in joy, in exhaustion.

Your body isn’t a burden to God. It’s a place of encounter. It’s where He wants to dwell.

From the Garden to the Cross to the Church

Scripture tells us that Adam was the first “picture” of the human story, formed from the dust, carrying God’s breath. But where Adam’s story brought separation, Jesus came as the Second Adam to bring reconciliation.

  • Adam’s bride came from his side.

  • Jesus, pierced on the cross, gave birth to His Bride, the Church, through blood and water.

  • And now, we are His Body on the earth.

A Christmas Invitation

This Christmas, as you decorate your home and care for your people, I invite you to let these truths sink deep:

  • You don’t have to disconnect from your body to connect with God.

  • Jesus came in a body so you could meet Him in yours.

  • Your body is a beautiful gift.

  • The incarnation isn’t just a doctrine, it’s a doorway into intimacy.

He came close. He comes still. And He wants to fill every room of your heart and home.

Emmanuel. God with us. God with you.
