I’m so grateful you’re here. In Episode 226 of the Heaven in Your Home podcast, I’m sharing something very close to my heart—an invitation to grow in body awareness as a pathway to deeper intimacy. This conversation is part of a summer series on 10 Ideas for Intentional Intimacy, and today’s focus is all about coming home to our bodies.

Not in a self-focused or self-indulgent way, but in a deeply sacred, God-honoring way.

Why Body Awareness Is Essential

Life is full. Some days, I go from one thing to the next—kids, errands, work, dinner—and realize I haven’t noticed my body all day. Not my hunger, not my posture, not even my breath. Maybe you’ve felt that too?

It’s in those moments that I sense the Holy Spirit whispering: “Slow down. Your body is a gift. Don’t miss Me here.”

Our bodies are good. Designed by a wise and loving Creator. When we live disconnected from them, we start to numb not just our physical selves, but also our capacity for pleasure, joy, and yes, intimacy in marriage. I’ve been there—numb and unaware, not feeling much at all. But over the years, God has gently led me back to a place of awareness and delight. It’s a journey of learning to embody my femininity on purpose.

What Does This Look Like?

Body awareness, for me, often begins with what I call “body awareness breaks.” Just a pause to check in:

  • How am I feeling?

  • What sensations am I experiencing?

  • Where is there tension or peace?

These small, sacred pauses help me reconnect to the truth that I am not just a soul with a body—I am an embodied soul. And when I’m in tune with my body, I’m far more in tune with my capacity for connection, pleasure, and intimacy with my husband.

The Beauty of God’s Design

The more I’ve learned about my anatomy, my nervous system, and the intricacies of female pleasure, the more in awe I am of God’s design. He didn’t make us to feel shame or disconnection. He made us to flourish, to experience pleasure in the context of covenant love, and to reflect something of His joy and generosity through our embodied experiences.

If you feel numb or disconnected, you’re not alone. And there’s no shame in starting again. This is a gentle invitation—no pressure, just grace—to begin noticing and honoring the beautiful temple He’s given you.

A Prayer for You

Jesus, thank You for our good bodies. Thank You that You designed us to live fully alive—not just spiritually, but physically and emotionally too. I pray for every woman reading this, that You would meet her in her body today. Awaken her senses. Stir her joy. And gently guide her into more awareness, connection, and delight. Amen.
