Ep. 234 | Intentional Intimacy: Kissing in the Kitchen

By Francie Winslow
Let’s talk about kissing—not just the sweet goodbye kind or the distracted peck on the cheek—but real, lingering, intentional kisses. You know, the kind that used to make time disappear when you were first falling in love.
This week, I’m sharing a simple but profound intimacy idea: kissing in the kitchen.
Why the kitchen? Because it’s the heart of the home. It’s where life happens—kids, meals, messes, and schedules. But what if, in the middle of all that hustle, we paused… to connect? To say, “I see you, and I choose you—right here, right now.”
This episode was inspired by one of the wise, radiant women in my Discipleship Circle (married over 40 years!) who shared how a daily kiss in the kitchen has been transforming her marriage. That image stayed with me. Because honestly, Wyatt and I used to make out like teenagers, and somewhere along the way—between raising kids and juggling life—we forgot the magic of a good kiss.
So today, I’m inviting you to remember:
The stress-reducing, connection-boosting power of a kiss
The hormones that are released when lips lock (hello, oxytocin and dopamine!)
How even a few seconds of focused affection can shift the atmosphere in your marriage
And yes—kissing even tones your facial muscles and burns a few calories too. Win-win.
But more than that, kissing reminds us that we’re not just co-parents or coworkers—we’re lovers. And intentional intimacy often starts with small, accessible moments like this.
So next time you’re stirring spaghetti or loading the dishwasher, take a detour. Grab your person. Lock lips. Smile. Connect.
It’s not about performance. It’s about presence.
With grace and joy,
Francie
