Ep. 232 | Intentional Intimacy: Why the Small Things Matter Most
PLAY THE EPISODE
By Francie Winslow
We’re nearing the end of our Intentional Intimacy series, and this week we’re talking about something that might seem simple, but is actually deeply powerful: the small things.
Inspired by The Compound Effect (a book I’m reading with my teens and Wyatt this summer), I’ve been thinking a lot about how little choices—done consistently—shape the fabric of our lives. Whether we’re talking about our health, our faith, or our marriages, it’s the small, daily decisions that make all the difference.
In today’s episode, I zoom in on two practices that can rewire the connection between you and your spouse: kissing in the kitchen and eye contact. That’s it. Nothing flashy. No weekend getaway. Just the daily decision to turn toward one another with intention.
Why does this matter? Because our bodies, our hearts, and our minds are deeply responsive to consistent cues of connection. A daily kitchen kiss creates tenderness. Prolonged eye contact breaks the roommate rut and reawakens the romantic spark. These tiny acts build trust, release bonding hormones, and remind us that we’re not just co-parents or co-managers of a busy household—we’re lovers.
If you’ve ever felt too exhausted to “work on your marriage,” start here. Small, quiet acts of love are sacred. They plant seeds. And over time, those seeds grow into a harvest of intimacy and joy.
In this episode, I’ll share:
The spiritual power of small investments in love
Real-life rhythms from our family (and our Discipleship Circle!)
Encouragement to reclaim your agency in the everyday
Friend, you don’t have to do something huge to create a shift. You just have to say “yes” again and again to being present.
Let’s choose connection together—one glance, one touch, one small act at a time.
With hope,
Francie
