Ep. 228 | Intentional Intimacy: Getting Out of Your Head and Into Your Body

I’m so glad to be with you in this little summer series on intentional intimacy. These short episodes have been like heart drops—little seeds I’m prayerfully sowing into the soil of your marriage. Today, I want to share something that’s deeply impacted my own life: the power of breath.
Breathwork might sound trendy or a little out-there, but for me, it’s been sacred. Breath is a gift from God. The Hebrew word Ruach means both “breath” and “Spirit.” Every inhale and exhale is a reminder that He is sustaining us. And in the most tender areas of my life—through trauma, through illness, and even in growing in sexual wholeness—breathing has become a way to connect with Him and with my husband.
I’ve found that our breath holds the power to bring us back into the moment. And intimacy—true connection—only happens in the present. When we rush, when we’re disconnected from our bodies, when we’re overwhelmed by stress, we miss the joy and connection that intimacy is meant to bring.
So today, I want to invite you to take a deep breath. Maybe even pause, close your eyes, put one hand on your heart and the other on your belly. Breathe in His presence. Breathe in peace. This isn’t just about oxygen—it’s about presence, union, and the Spirit of God breathing life into our bodies, our marriages, and our souls.
In this episode, I share a bit of our family’s journey, the role breathwork has played in my healing, and how it’s helped me grow in embodied intimacy. I even lead you through a short breath prayer to help you begin practicing right where you are.
Whether you’re feeling distant from your spouse, overwhelmed by life, or just curious about how to grow closer, I hope this episode gives you something simple and sacred to hold onto.
God is with you. You are not alone. And even something as simple as your breath can be a bridge to deeper connection.
Let’s breathe and build intimacy—on purpose.
